IPPR are looking to start the 2008 Amelia Zollner IPPR/UCL Internship in early June 2008.
Eliġibbiltà Rekwiżiti
Applicants must be final-year UCL students, about to graduate (Bachelors, Masters or Research degree) in any area, interested in and passionate about policy and politics, current affairs and social justice, and the work of IPPR, as well as enthusiastic about political research.
Applicants can come from any country, but must be able to work in the UK (UK/EU nationals or holders of valid work permit).
Applicants should have some research skills, and need to be committed to the aims of IPPR of wanting to build a fairer, more democratic and environmentally sustainable world.

Awards are made by IPPR, on the basis of academic achievement, research skills, relevant experience, and passion. Financial circumstances of the candidates are not taken into account.

The award consists of an IPPR internship of up to three months. The recipient of the Amelia Zollner IPPR/UCL Internship Award will receive the higher of a) £5,000 or b) the equivalent of the current IPPR salary for the duration of the internship.
The A Zollner IPPR/UCL intern will be based at the London office of IPPR, and shall have the same employment benefits and responsibilities as any other IPPR intern, including monthly payments, paid holidays (6.5 days for a 3-month internship), payment of National Insurance and taxes, and training and development opportunities at IPPR events.

Professor Denys Holland, in whose memory the Denys Holland Fund was created by donations from his students, was a sociable, compassionate man.
A Professor of Law and Dean of Students, one of his principle concerns was the welfare and fulfilment of students under his care. His admissions policy for the Faculty of Law aimed at a broad range of students who would enter fully into college life. Professor Holland took a keen and continuing interest in his students’ extra-curricular activities as well as their academic progress.
The Denys Holland Scholarship aims to support undergraduate students from any country, who would be unable to study at UCL without financial help, and who can demonstrate their intention to make full use of the activities offered by UCL and the Student Union.
Eliġibbiltà Rekwiżiti
Applicants should be
* Holding an offer of admission to UCL for full-time undergraduate study in any department;
* In financial hardship, and be able to demonstrate that without the scholarship they would be unable to study at UCL;
* preferably aged 25 or below at the time of commencing their studies;
* Able to demonstrate that they have broad interests and intend to be actively involved in and contribute to the life of the College;

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial hardship, subject to applicants demonstrating their intention to play a full part in extra-curricular activities of UCL and the Students Union.
Valur:: Benefiċċji u t-tul:
The scholarships are worth £9,300 (= 2007/08 rate) fis-sena, subject to an annual inflationary increase. Scholars may choose to use all or part of the scholarship to cover fees. Any remainder is paid to the scholar as a maintenance stipend.
Scholarships are for one year in the first instance, but will be renewed subject to satisfactory progress, for up to a total of three years.
The Scholarship may be held alongside other grants, bursaries, awards or scholarships, provided annual total funding does not exceed the cost of fees plus a reasonable sum for maintenance in any one year.
Applications Deadline and Procedure
Applicants will be required to detail their current outside interests and indicate areas of non-academic activity which they would hope to pursue while a student. They will also have to provide information on their financial circumstances and other sources of income being sought.
Candidates must apply for admission to UCL through UCAS (www.ucas.ac.uk) and submit the completed UCL Denys-Holland Scholarship Application Form by the deadline.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Potential candidates must ensure that they submit a full scholarship application by the deadline irrespective of whether an offer of admission to UCL has reached them or not. The UCL Scholarships Office will check – as part of the eligibility check of scholarship applications – whether the scholarship applicant holds an offer of admission to UCL. Scholarships applicants who have not applied for admission to UCL or who do not receive an admissions offer from UCL will be excluded from the competition.
Complete scholarship applications must be received by the UCL Scholarships Office no later than 1st August before the start of the relevant academic session.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for funding.
